The project aims at fostering capacity building in the field of Smart Grids by the development of a harmonized, modular curriculum.
Envisioned outcomes of this project are new, interdisciplinary master courses implemented at partner institutions in Africa, running laboratories, online courses, and an improved networking between the partners.
In contrast to the traditional powergrid, the Smart Grid in enhanced by modern information and communication technology. Hence, it also implies new risks to data security and dataprotection.
For example, the integrity of control information that will be exchanged has to be ensured; risks to consumers’ privacy arise from detailed measurements of energy consumption.
